Garden furniture made from branches and driftwood: 10 ideas that will make you delighted

The advantages of wicker tables and chairs are well known to consumers. The only drawback of these light, beautiful, durable products is their high cost. Thanks to the availability of raw materials, DIY wicker furniture is several times cheaper, being in no way inferior in originality to factory-made kits. All that is required from a beginning master is patience and desire. The weaving technology described in detail will allow you to realize the most daring idea, and ready-made “homemade products” will decorate any interior.

Frame selection

The next step will be choosing the base and making it. Wicker furniture can be:

  • frameless - the product is made of durable rods that serve as stiffeners;
  • stick - the furniture panel is fixed on strong supporting sticks;
  • frame or typesetting - the vine entwines the finished structure or individual rigid elements.

The practice of using ready-made frame products is shown to both beginners and professionals in weaving furniture. When braiding a stable volumetric base, the working time and the amount of consumable materials are significantly reduced. Old furniture (chairs, sofas, tables, armchairs), homemade products or ready-made factory templates made of light metals, wood or polyurethane foam can be used as a frame.

If it is impossible to purchase a ready-made frame and there is no old furniture, the structure is made independently. The optimal material for beginners is wooden beams with a rectangular or square cross-section. Complex load-bearing shapes (seats, table tops, backs) are cut out of plywood. Self-tapping screws, glue or a flexible cord are used to fasten individual elements; subsequently, these areas are hidden.

There are serious demands placed on the stiffeners or frame of wicker furniture in terms of stability and durability. The materials used in their manufacture are impregnated with antiseptics or strengthened.

Back

Start by bending the branch into a circle around the armrests of the chair, and then tuck the ends down inside the top side rails of the seat frame (Figure 4). Pull down until the curve of the backrest is flush with the ends of the top crossbar [#7] on the backrest.

Once you have nailed this branch to the frame, take a slightly longer branch and place it next to the first one.

Nail a second branch to the outside of each armrest, to the inside of the seat frame, and every 5cm or so to the first backrest branch. Repeat the entire procedure with three more branches, each slightly longer than the previous one.

And even a stump

If a stump has formed on the site, you can use it as the center of the composition, surrounding it with logs. The main thing is that the hemp furniture has an even cut - the table and chairs will be stable. If desired, they are supplemented with backrests made of branches and pillows are placed.

You can even use an old rotten stump as a flower pot. They are placed in the rotten middle only in a pot so that the wood does not completely collapse, and if there is moss and other vegetation on the stump, this is only a plus: they will add decorativeness.

The quirkiness of roots, branches or driftwood creates endless scope for implementing the most unexpected solutions. They are fabulously beautiful and at the same time look cozy, but most importantly: they exist in a single copy.

Can be found under your feet

Much of what can be successfully used for the interior can be found in the forest or even on the street. We have already talked about how saw cuts can be used; but this is not all that can be “borrowed” from nature.

Stump

This “good” can be found both in the forest belt and on the plot. By subjecting it to minimal processing (grinding and varnishing), you can get a table, bedside table, lamp stand or chair. The natural pattern characteristic of wood will highlight your taste.

However, if you want to achieve a completely different effect, the stump can be coated with paint and even... gilding. This will give the interior a special sophistication. And you can achieve this effect with your own hands.

Branches and brushwood

To understand how to use them in the interior, it is better to familiarize yourself with the numerous photos published on the World Wide Web. So, you can find a photo of a table made in the form of an armful of branches, intercepted with twine in several places.

You can place transparent glass on top of an unusual design: this way minimalism will intertwine with mysticism.

Advice! Do you want to give your children's room some originality, but do it with little money? Easily!

All you have to do is find a large tree branch and paint it in bright colors. Then you need to secure it to the wall as securely as possible. If the side branches are strong enough, you can hang small toys or colorful patches on them. The child will be delighted with such a bright detail, and most importantly, he will be able to help create it with his own hands.

In this case, the wallpaper in the room should be plain.

driftwood

Often in nature you can find driftwood that resembles various shapes. They can also be used in the interior of an apartment.

Advice! You can do the same if you accidentally come across a stone of an interesting shape and shade. By combining it with an interesting wooden element or other natural materials, you can create a unique composition with your own hands.

Picturesque little things

Wood in the interior can be present unobtrusively, but expressively. Decor made from this material will highlight the individual style of the apartment.

This list may include:

  • floor vases;
  • candlesticks for walls;
  • figurines;
  • caskets;
  • spoons and utensils;
  • masks for wall decoration.

In addition, paintings in wooden frames and even entire panels can be placed on the wall.

Full length

Modern designers offer truly imaginative solutions to the most daring clients. For example, a real tree in a tub. Standard apartments are not suitable for this, but a country house with a large area is just what you need. For example, in Europe, a real fashion trend in recent years is a live spruce in a pot.

And in the southern regions of Russia you can often find a palm tree in a tub, located in the most illuminated corner of the house.

The combination of wood and stone in the interior looks natural. Therefore, it is logical to use a small stone if you need to somehow decorate the space inside a tub with a tree.
